It Could Be Worse...

Please join me in supporting the March of Dimes

This weekend, my wife and I, along with our two kids will be walking in the March of Dimes Walk in Kankakee, IL.  The March of Dimes is committed to improving the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality through research, community service, education and advocacy.

We are fortunate to have two healthy children; we are walking in support of our cousin Mia.  Two years ago, Mia was born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome.  She has already endured three open-heart surgeries and faces at least one additional procedure before her third birthday.  Not to turn this into a health care debate, but Mia will exhaust her health insurance coverage’s $1,000,000 lifetime benefit by the time she turns three.

I just want some cash (which is just as good as money)

Today AFLAC decided they were going to deny my wife’s disability claim because their agent made a mistake at the time of application.  Instead, they want to pretend the contract was never signed and just return the premiums paid.  Um, that’s not how contracts work, even for talking ducks.

We’ll see about this, but its not going to go away quietly.
